Medical Condition & Diagnosis
Baby Riyaz Sk, a 3-year-11-month-old child from Bandhmura, Katwa-I, Purba Bardhaman, West Bengal, has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a severe and aggressive form of childhood blood cancer. His diagnosis was confirmed after weeks of persistent fever, extreme weakness, lymph node swelling, and abnormal blood reports. Medical investigations revealed high blast cells, low hemoglobin, and critical blood abnormalities requiring immediate intervention. Riyaz has been admitted to the Department of Pediatric Oncology at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, where he is under the supervision of Dr. Pritam Singha Roy. Doctors have advised a one-year chemotherapy protocol (ICiCLE-24) with curative intent. This treatment is intensive and involves repeated hospital admissions, chemotherapy cycles, blood transfusions, diagnostic tests, and close monitoring to prevent life-threatening complications. Without uninterrupted treatment, Riyaz’s condition can deteriorate rapidly, putting his life at serious risk.
Treatment Plan & Estimated Cost
Riyaz has already begun chemotherapy and has required hospital admission for diagnosis confirmation and initiation of treatment. According to the hospital cost estimate, the approximate cost for chemotherapy alone is ₹8,00,000, with additional expenses expected for supportive care, medicines, investigations, infection management, and emergency admissions. Medical documents clearly state that treatment costs may increase if complications arise, which is common in pediatric cancer cases. Riyaz’s care includes regular blood tests, IV medications, infection control measures, and supportive therapies to help his fragile body cope with aggressive chemotherapy. Doctors have emphasized that completing the full treatment protocol without delays is crucial for survival and long-term recovery. Any interruption due to lack of funds can severely compromise treatment outcomes and reduce his chances of cure.
Family Background & Financial Hardship
Riyaz comes from an extremely underprivileged family. His father, Mr. Rahamatulla Sk, is a daily wage laborer earning approximately ₹7,000 per month, as confirmed by the official income certificate. His work is irregular, and since Riyaz’s diagnosis, he has been unable to work consistently because he must stay at the hospital for his son’s treatment. Riyaz’s mother, Mrs. Rafika Khatun, is a homemaker with no source of income. The family has no savings, no financial backup, and is struggling to manage even basic household needs alongside mounting medical bills. With two young children to support and one battling cancer, the parents are overwhelmed, helpless, and exhausted. They are unable to continue Riyaz’s life-saving treatment without external support. This appeal is a heartfelt request to compassionate donors to help save Baby Riyaz’s life. Your support can ensure uninterrupted treatment, reduce the family’s burden, and give this innocent child a chance to survive, recover, and live a healthy future.
