Standing With a Family in Their Hardest Battle

Medical Condition & Diagnosis
Baby Kriti Halder, aged just 1 year and 7 months, has been diagnosed with Wilms Tumor, a malignant tumor of the kidney that primarily affects infants and young children. According to medical records from Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, the tumor originated in her left kidney and required immediate medical intervention. Kriti was admitted under the Department of Paediatric Oncology and placed under the care of Dr. Arpita Bhattacharyya. Diagnostic imaging revealed a large renal mass involving the kidney, with complications that demanded urgent surgical and oncological management. She underwent a left nephrectomy (removal of the affected kidney) and has since begun chemotherapy as part of a curative treatment plan. Wilms Tumor, if treated in time, has a good survival rate, but delays or interruptions in treatment can be life-threatening.

Treatment Plan & Estimated Cost
As per the official cost estimate issued by Tata Medical Center, Kriti requires chemotherapy for a duration of approximately one year following surgery. The treatment intent is curative, but it involves multiple chemotherapy cycles, hospital visits, medications, diagnostic tests, and close monitoring to prevent complications such as infections or relapse. The estimated cost for chemotherapy alone is ₹2,00,000, and this amount may increase if complications arise, as clearly stated in the hospital disclaimer. Kriti has already received initial chemotherapy and tolerated it well, but continuity of treatment is absolutely critical. Any financial interruption may compromise her recovery and long-term survival. The hospital has appealed for financial assistance so that treatment can proceed without delay.

Family Background & Financial Hardship
Kriti belongs to an economically backward family residing in Lichutala village, Saguna, Nadia district, West Bengal. Her father, Mr. Kallol Halder, earns a monthly income of only ₹6,000, as certified by the Block Development Officer, Kalyani. The family has no health insurance coverage, no savings, and no alternative source of income. Meeting daily household expenses itself is a struggle, making it impossible for them to afford expensive cancer treatment. Despite their best efforts, the parents have exhausted all available resources to save their child. They have formally appealed for financial support, stating clearly that without external help, they cannot continue Kriti’s treatment. Supporting this case means directly helping a child complete her cancer treatment and giving her a fair chance at a healthy future.
