Baby Bipul Mahato, barely 1 year and 7 months old, is fighting a life-threatening battle against Recurrence Rhabdomyosarcoma (cancer). After months of treatment and unbearable pain, his cancer has returned, and doctors at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata have advised one full year of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and continuous supportive care.
This little child has already suffered more than most adults ever do. Frequent hospital visits, painful medical procedures, and constant discomfort have taken away his childhood. Still, Bipul continues to fight bravely. Unfortunately, his treatment is far beyond what his family can afford.
Family Background
Bipul’s father, Piyush Mahato, previously worked in a sweet shop, earning barely ₹6,000 per month. Due to Bipul’s medical condition, he had to leave his job and now has no income at all.
His mother, Tina Mahato, is a homemaker with no means to support the family financially.
The household consists of three members, entirely dependent on outside help.
The family is struggling to manage even basic needs, and the cost of treatment has pushed them into severe financial distress. Without timely and continuous medical care, Bipul’s condition could become critical.

Update 27 December 25 -
Baby Bipul Mahato, barely 1 year and 7 months old, is bravely fighting a life-threatening battle against Recurrence Rhabdomyosarcoma (cancer) and continues to undergo treatment at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata.
As per the current treatment plan, Bipul’s chemotherapy cycle has started from 26th December and is scheduled to continue till 30th December. This phase involves day-care chemotherapy, during which multiple anti-cancer medicines are being administered along with essential supportive treatment.
Doctors have advised strict medical monitoring, as the child’s immunity can remain very low during this period, increasing the risk of infections and complications. Bipul is being closely observed by the pediatric oncology team to ensure he tolerates the treatment safely.
After completion of this chemotherapy cycle, Bipul will be reviewed in the Pediatric Oncology OPD, along with blood investigations. Based on his recovery and test reports, the doctors will decide the next course of treatment as per protocol.
This phase of treatment is critical, and continued care and support remain essential as Bipul moves forward in his fight against cancer.
Update 02 January 2026 -
Following the completion of his chemotherapy cycle on 30th December 2025, Baby Bipul Mahato is currently clinically stable and remains under close supervision of the pediatric oncology team.
His condition is being regularly monitored through CBC blood tests to assess immunity levels and detect any early complications. Doctors have advised the parents to immediately report to the hospital if his body temperature rises above 100.3°F. In such situations, CBC tests, blood cultures, and emergency IV antibiotics (Piperacillin–Tazobactam and Amikacin) will be initiated without delay. Strict fever and neutropenia precautions are being followed at home.
At present, Bipul is on Cyfixime twice daily, Dulcolax (as required), and other supportive medications as prescribed by the doctors to help manage side effects and support recovery.
His next Pediatric Oncology OPD follow-up is scheduled for 10th January 2026, during which his blood reports will be reviewed and the next phase of treatment will be decided accordingly.
Baby Bipul continues to be closely monitored as he progresses through this critical phase of treatment.
