When Baby Ashwini Sardar Nale was born extremely premature at just 27 weeks, weighing only 0.96 kg, her parents were devastated. The newborn was immediately admitted to Sai Sparsh Children’s Hospital, Kolhapur, where doctors diagnosed her with Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) and Extremely Low Birth Weight (ELBW) both life-threatening conditions requiring urgent intensive care. She has been under the supervision of Dr. Vyankatesh Tarkasband (Dixit) and Dr. Amol Girwalkar (Neonatologists) since birth.
Due to her fragile condition, Baby Ashwini requires continuous NICU and PICU support, ventilator assistance, medications, and round-the-clock monitoring. The estimated duration of NICU stay is approximately 75 days, and the total medical cost is around ₹6,00,000, far beyond the family’s means.
